Leading Geotextile Fabric Manufacturer in Nepal

Geotextile fabric stabilises weak soil, controls erosion and keeps drains working. In a country of steep hill roads, fast rivers and heavy monsoon rain like Nepal, those three jobs come up on almost every road, slope and river project.

Ocean Non Wovens Pvt. Ltd. is a non-woven geotextile fabric manufacturer supplying projects in Nepal. We make non-woven geotextiles, woven geotextiles, coir geotextiles and knitted geotextiles, in a range of GSM and roll widths to suit the project.

The main job of a non-woven geotextile in road and ground works is separation. When a granular layer is laid over soft soil, traffic pushes the stone down into the soil and the soil up into the stone. A geotextile between them stops that mixing, so the stone layer stays clean and keeps its bearing strength, and the sub-base deforms less and the surface ruts less.

The second job is filtration. Wrapped around a drain, whether a granular trench drain or a geosynthetic alternative such as open drain cells, the geotextile lets water in and keeps soil fines out, so the drain does not clog. Woven geotextiles are also used where higher tensile strength is needed, for example over very soft ground.

Choosing the Right Geotextile Fabric

Choose by the type of project, the soil conditions and the expected loads and traffic. As a rule of thumb, coarser and more angular fill and heavier construction traffic call for a heavier (higher GSM) fabric, because it must survive installation without puncturing. For filtration, match the fabric’s apparent opening size and permeability to the soil it will sit against. Coir geotextiles are biodegradable and suit slope erosion control where vegetation will take over as the fabric breaks down.

Our geotextile fabrics are used in flood control, railways, landfills, paved and unpaved roads, landscaping, tunnels, canals, retaining structures, and river, coastal and flood protection works. In Nepal’s terrain the common uses are separation under hill and rural roads, filters behind retaining walls and in subsurface drains, and erosion control on cut slopes and riverbanks.
